About ESA2

The Education Service Agencies in South Dakota began as a vehicle to better deliver services to schools. Since 2004, Educational Service Agency, Region 2, has been responsible for providing services to regional school districts, and serving as a resource for member schools.

ESA2 provides valuable services to school districts by offering quality research-based professional development opportunities through regional and site-based programs and practices that include: data analysis; curriculum enhancement; instructional strategies; Common Core State Standards alignment; PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions Support; school improvement planning; technology & media specialization. These programs and practices are specifically designed to increase student achievement and to improve instructional strategies and leadership. ESA2 staff work jointly with the South Dakota Department of Education to provide assistance and support for schools on statewide initiatives. ESA2 also offers customized services based on needs identified by school districts.

In partnership with SD Dept of Education, ESA2 staff are serving as implementation specialists for the 2013-2014 SD Teacher and Principal Effectiveness pilot projects.  This project serves 75 schools in 24 school districts.  Implementation includes training and support in the State model for evaluation including SLO development.
