Janeen joined the ESA Region 2 with 12 years of classroom, leadership, and staff development experience and 5 years of experience as Program Coordinator of ESA 4.
As a middle and high school Spanish and language arts teacher she served as director of staff development, technology, and language arts curriculum committees, and president of the local education association.
While Program Coordinator of ESA 4, Dr. Outka was responsible for scheduling and facilitating professional development and technical assistance for 19 school districts in northeast SD and also executed grant writing duties and supervision of SDCOUNTS. Her current work at EDEC is as a facilitator of the Master Teacher Academy grant, training and coaching a cohort of master teachers in the areas of 21st Century Skills and Project-Based Learning. Janeen also serves as career development coordinator for schools participating in College Access, Wakan Gli, and GEAR Up programs.
Janeen holds a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from South Dakota State University, and Educational Specialist and Doctoral degrees from the University of South Dakota, and is certified as both a secondary principal and a career school superintendent.
