Health Edventure is an entire curriculum web site
intended to provided access to health education in
rural areas where school nurses are not available
and guidance counselors do not have the time or resources
to teach such content. It is a “one-stop” wellness
web site focusing on disease prevention, disease
information, and healthy lifestyles.
Features of the K-12 web site include:
•
Interactive K-12 lesson plans based on health, physical
education, math, science, social studies, language
arts, and guidance and counseling standards
•
Separate sites for Kids (K-5), Teens (6-8) and Educators
that are secure and password protected.
•
A Fitness Center that includes a Health Journal,
as well as a site for students to set goals for nutrition
and exercise and track progress.
•
A Health Library featuring information on available
online video's, a healthy book list and a list of
web site resources.
•
Experiments and lab exercises for many lessons, as
well as games and quizzes.
•
A Teacher site that provides a suggested plan of
study for each grade level, standards correlation,
instructional strategies, lesson plans, resources
for each topic, and an assessment/rubric bank.
•
Career awareness, exploration, and planning activities
found on the Careers site. The Career site is currently
in development.
•
A Parent site that includes information on and activities
on each of the topics that parents can do with their
children. The Parent site is currently in development.
•
A question and answer feature giving students an
opportunity to receive more in-depth information
on a particular topic.
•
Student surveys for individual use, as well as to
determine class, school, and state trends on a variety
of topics.
